I would like to take a moment to explain the idea behind the trust fund we have set up for Marc’s family.

Marc and Tina made an incredible couple and definitely qualify as two of the best and brightest people I have ever known. Tina has operated her own successful interior design business in addition to being a stay-at-home mom for Jonathan (7), Anthony (5), and Michelle (4).

Marc held a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Dayton and worked as a research engineer at the UD Research Institute for around 15 years. Marc was a very successful person, great provider, wonderful father, and an extremely responsible human being. Of course, not even the brightest guy could have predicted that something so terrible would cut his life so short. He did have a life insurance policy and a Will in place beforehand. I spoke to them both after the doctor told Marc to “get his things in order,” and they indicated that Tina and the kids should be fine financially in his absence if she used her funds wisely as the kids grew up. There is no doubt in my mind that she will do a better job than most at this task.  FYI: The kids will also receive social security payments until they each turn 18-years-old.

The initial idea behind the trust was to accept cash instead of flowers for the funeral, but the timing from death to burial was so short that most didn’t have time to act. Believe me, there were plenty of flowers at the funeral.

It has been my experience that the motorsport's community always comes together in times of tragedy to make sure that their own are taken care of. We are simply trying to create a little something extra from the donations of friends and family to give to the kids once they are grown in an effort to show them how much we cared for their father. The funds will be invested and divided appropriately when the time comes, perhaps to offset college costs, etc...

I would like to thank all who have already donated to the fund and would like to invite anyone else who would like to help create a more positive future for the family of such a fantastic person to donate also.

We will keep the fund open for as long as interest and/or donations continue.

Thank you again,

Brock

Hello everyone.

I wanted to let you know that we intend to donate a portion of the proceeds collected from the sale of our new “carnivore” T-shirt sales to the Marc Huelsman memorial trust account which has been set up for the continuing education of his three children.

We just completed the first annual Marc Huelsman Memorial Golf Tournament on Sunday, September 23, 2007.

I am happy to say it was sold out, in advance, and some people who wanted to participate had to be turned away! It was beautiful weather for 18 holes of golf at a fantastic local course here in Dayton, Ohio. I had personally never played golf and intentionally had stayed off of a course these past few months so that my first experience was related to Marc. I HAD A BALL!

Rhonda and I teamed up with dragbike.com/AMA Prostar duo Scott Valetti and Brandi Neithamer. Scott was the talent, and his instruction helped my personal game go from woeful to enjoyable towards the end of play. Golf is a very precise sport, and Scott’s advice reminded me of how I tell novice drag racers things they can do to NOT screw up!

The day ended with everyone gathering together for an enjoyable meal and conversation. All in all, it was a wonderful tribute to the memory of one of my best friends, Marc Huelsman, and it was a spectacular gathering with a lot of familiar faces and family in honor of the wonderful husband/father/man we all knew Marc to be.

I can’t wait until next year, and now I can practice!!
