Team Suzuki/Brock’s Performance Products advanced two of its GSXR1000s into the 1000 Super Sport semi-finals at the AMA/Prostar Pingel Thunder Nationals from Indianapolis, IN.

The team accomplished the feat without owner/rider Brock Davidson who was sidelined from racing with a knee injury.

“It was hard for me to have to miss this race with the points chase heating up,” Davidson said. “Unfortunately I had no choice.”

Davidson decided to let 600 Super Sport standout Vince Woska take his place on the GSXR 1000. Woska qualified the bike in the number-two spot with an impressive 9.15

“He did a fantastic job,” Davidson said of Woska’s performance. “Especially since he hasn’t raced a 1000 in over a year. He practiced the day before the race and that was it. We were very pleased to see him qualify in the number-two spot.”

Teammate Dustin Clark was also on his game, qualifying in the number-three spot, and like Woska, advancing to the semis.

“It was a great feeling to see both of our bikes in the semis,” Davidson said. “We were looking for an all-Suzuki final. We just need a little more seat time.”

After the race the newly appointed AMA technical inspectors extensively scrutinized both bikes.
“Our bikes are ripped to shreds,” Davidson said. “It was hands down the most thorough technical inspection I’ve ever seen. It’s very frustrating to have to take both your bikes home in a cardboard box, but I’m proud to say we were 100 percent legal. These GSXR1000’s are amazingly fast bikes, every single part we use is available to anyone who calls our office.”

In 600 Super Sport, Davidson feels as if there is plenty of room for improvement for the next event.
“The 600 class was a little disappointing for us,” Davidson said. “There were only eight bikes in the class, but the ones that were there were darn fast.”

Despite recording a respectable 9.91, Woska suffered a first round loss to Richard Gadson, who posted low elapsed-time of the round at 9.76.

“Vince cut a great light and ran the best eighth mile ET he’s ever ran,” Davidson said. “Richard’s bike was just too fast that run.”

An unusual accident in the pits forced Clark to miss the first round of the 600 category.

“Right before 600 eliminations Dustin ripped one of his fingernails off while trying to make a gearing change,” Davidson said. “We ran him down to the ambulance because he was in a lot of pain, and in that short period of time he missed first round.”

Davidson says overall the weekend was a success and the team’s discounted OEM Suzuki part sales were the best they had ever been.

Next up for Team Suzuki/Brock’s Performance Products will be the AMA/Prostar Schnitz Memphis Blues Nationals, from Memphis, TN, Oct 2-3.

“After 6 weeks of physical therapy, I am hoping to be back on the bike by Memphis,” Davison said. “If I can’t do it I’ll put Vince back on the bike, he did an outstanding job.”

The team expressed gratitude towards all of its dedicated sponsors and thanked; American Suzuki Motor Corp., Ohlins Suspension Technology, World Wide Bearings, Bates Leathers, NUTEC Racing Fuels, Millennium Technologies, Alyson Oils and Spiegler Brake Systems.

Davidson and crew extended a very special thank you to Maxton standout “200 mph” Dave Owen and his wife Lauren (201 !) for their help throughout the hectic weekend and dedication to the team in 2004.
