Woska leads Super Sport points after Atlanta runner-up
By: Jack Korpela

Brock’s Performance Products team member Vince Woska rode his GSX-R1000 to a runner-up finish, thus retaining the points lead, at the AMA/Prostar MTC Elmer Trett Nationals from Atlanta, GA, April 1st-2nd.

“To have the points lead is great,” said Woska, who led the 600 Super Sport points at the beginning of the 2004 season. “It’s great to start the season off strong. My goal now is to try and stay consistent and avoid the low points we hit last year.”

“I haven’t been able to go to either race to help out tuning, so we have done it all by cell phone” Brock Davidson said. “Vince is doing a fantastic job riding the bike. I think this is going to be a great year for him.”

Woska qualified No.1 with a 9.248, and by the end of the event he had set low elapsed-time and top speed of the meet with a 9.238 and High MPH at 154.93 mph.

Woska defeated Stuart Hamby in round No. 1, had a bye in round No. 2, and defeated John Hall in the semis. Woska had low ET of each round.

“We are running really strong numbers. I felt like we had the field covered really well,” Woska said.
In the final Woska encountered clutch problems on the line and fouled out to Richard Gadson.

“In the final the clutch started to grab and it pulled me through the lights as I tried to preload the lever,” Woska said. “It was my own fault. I wanted to win but I’m also very happy for Richard. He’s a great rider.”

At the completion of the race the top two finishers went through a complete tear down at tech.
“Once again we came home with our bike in a box, this gives us a chance to make it better” said Vince Woska Sr.

“One of the things that really irritates me about the class is the constant bickering over rules interpretations,” Davidson said. “It gets very confusing. An item which is legal at one race, can be deemed illegal at the next. Right now we are testing multiple combinations just in case something that we are currently running somehow becomes unacceptable. This way we can still be competitive simply by installing another known good component combination.”

Next up for Woska will be the AMA/Prostar Spring Nationals at Virginia Motor Sports Park in Richmond, VA on May 6-7, 2006.

Vince Woska would like to thank Brock Davidson of Brock's Performance Products. “None of this would be possible without his support, time, effort, and friendship,” Woska said.

“Thanks to Lang and Lee Hindle of Hindle Performance Exhaust,” Woska said. “Lang and Lee Hindle have been working with Brock’s Performance to produce the fastest exhaust systems for Sportbikes on the planet and we have been fortunate enough to have been given the opportunity to prove it on the track. Thank you for your support and a great product.
