Veteran sportbike racer Brock Davidson will compete at only selected events in 2005 and will not attend the AMA/Prostar season opener in Valdosta, GA, March 5th-6th.

“It was a hard choice but for more that one reason it is not viable for us to follow the entire AMA/Prostar circuit right now,” Davidson, who attended all eight races last year said. “For one we have a schedule conflict for the first race. Also we sat down and looked at all of the numbers from last season and it’s hard to justify the expense based on the return. It didn’t make financial sense.”

This is a particularly important announcement for Suzuki racers that anticipated Davidson’s trackside support and discounted OEM Suzuki parts.

“That program worked out really well last year and I think the racers enjoyed being able to buy the parts right at the track,” Davidson said. “We’d like to continue to do this, but at this time I can not commit to any of the races.”

Team rider Vince Woska will once again receive backing from Brock’s Performance Products. Last season Woska assembled a career best 4th place finish in the now defunct 600 Super Sport class and ran personal best ETs in the 9.70s. In 2005 Woska follow the entire AMA/Prostar circuit and move up to the 1000 Super Sport class.

“I look forward to supporting Vince again this season,” Davidson said. “He has come a long way as a rider over the last couple seasons. Right now we are working hard to finalize his 2005 GSXR 1000. He may have to start the season on a different bike, but no matter what he will be under the Brock’s Performance Racing banner all year.”

Davidson knows his love of the sport won’t keep him away for long and he hopes to attend as many races as possible this season.

“I’d definitely like to get out and help Vince and my other customers as much as possible,” Davidson said. “We’re also very interested in checking out the MIROCK and NOPI races.”

Even though he’s not fielding a full race team this seaon, Davidson was still plenty busy over the winter developing a new drag shock with Ohlins and a state-of-the-art sportbike exhaust systems with Hindle.
“We’re really excited about our new shock. It will be the first time a racer can buy a drag racing shock right off the shelf,” Davidson said.

“We’ve also got an exclusive line of new exhaust systems for sportbike drag racers,” Davidson said. “Half of the new pipes are legal for 1000 Super Sport competition. I’m really disappointed to report that our new state-of-the-art sidewinder will not be legal in the Prostar 1000 Supersport class initially because it requires a small modification to the fairing. However these are great systems and we are selling them as fast as they can be produced. We put a prototype on Rickey Gadson’s ZX10 this winter and he picked up eight horsepower.”
